The Medtronic Foundation is pledging $16 million to partnerships advancing social justice and equity and planning a global "Day of Action for Racial Equity Progress."
Three details:
1. Medtronic is entering into long-term partnerships with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the Northside Achievement Zone and the People's Center Clinics & Services. The partnerships build on support Medtronic provided to several Minneapolis organizations after a police officer killed George Floyd May 25, sparking civil unrest.
2. During a planned day of action, Medtronic will provide its 90,000 global employees with education and virtual volunteer opportunities to promote racial equity. Workers will be given the option to support nonprofit organizations addressing social justice issues and racial disparities in Black communities.
3. Through an employee matching program running until Oct. 30, the Medtronic Foundation will double all Medtronic employee and retiree donations to nonprofits focused on social justice.
