Richardson, Texas-based medical device company Gramercy Extremity Orthopedics announced the first implant of its FirstFUSE MTPJ Fusion Plate, according to an Oct. 13 press release.

The surgery was done in Portland, Ore., and the perioperative team "loved the sterile, single-use delivery model," the release said. The FirstFUSE System offers a variety of plate size options, dorsiflexion and abduction.

"With MTP fusion being one of the highest volume elective cases in the foot and ankle call pattern, we are excited to leverage the GEO technology to deliver solutions for complex reconstruction in a safe, sterile manner," Scott Day, GEO's chief commercial officer, said in a statement. "Delivery is only one piece, however. FirstFUSE's size, abduction and dorsiflexion options make the plating system an attractive clinical solution for discerning surgeons."
