Metro Health in Wyoming, Mich., installed Augmedics' Xvision Spine System to offer augmented reality spine surgery, the system announced.
Metro Health, an affiliate of Ann Arbor-based Michigan Medicine, installed the system, which is based in a retina display. The display allows a surgeon to visualize a patient's anatomy as they operate.
John Keller, MD, Metro Health neurology section chief, performed the first procedure with the system Sept. 21. Three surgeons at Metro Health are trained on the Xvision system.
Metro Health purchased the system using funds from Metro Health Hospital Foundation.
