SeaSpine, a global spine device company based in Carlsbad, Calif., launched a 3D-printed interbody implant system Feb. 22.
Three details:
1. The company announced a limited commercial release of the WaveForm TA interbody implant system for transforaminal lumbar interbody fusions. SeaSpine launched the WaveForm TA for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion in September.
2. WaveForm has 65 percent porous endplates and 75 percent porous architecture in the body of the implant, designed to minimize subsidence and other implant issues.
3. SeaSpine plans to launch three more 3D-printed interbody systems this year.
"I really like the porosity of the implant, and the gyroid design is unique and like no other implant on the market," Alex Mohit, MD, PhD, of NeoSpine and Tacoma General Hospital, said in a news release. "The instrumentation is simple and intuitive, and the variety of implant sizes helps me tailor treatment for my patients."
