Spinal Tech

DJO will acquire Switzerland-based medical technology company Mathys AG Bettlach, which focuses on joint replacements, synthetic bone grafts and sports medicine.

The transaction, expected to close in the third quarter, will add Mathys' joint replacement products, including the AltiVate Reverse shoulder replacement system and Empower hip and knee systems, according to a June 8 news release. The deal is expected to bolster DJO's reconstructive portfolio.

Mathys was founded in 1946 and is an orthopedic leader with production sites in Switzerland and Germany. In the last six months, DJO sealed orthopedic acquisitions including Trilliant Surgical and MedShape.
