Spinal Elements shares data on Luna XD interbody implant

Spinal Tech

Spinal Elements shared results of a two-year study with the Luna XD multiexpandable implant system June 8.

Here's what you should know:

1. The study examined 69 consecutive patients over two years. A retrospective analysis found they had significant improvement in leg pain, back pain and other patient-outcome measures.

2. The study was conducted at Rush University Medical Group in Chicago and concluded: "Significant improvements in pain and disability were observed. Effective and durable restoration of disc height and neuroforaminal height and reduction of spondylolisthesis were obtained, with concurrent gains in lumbar lordosis."

3. Luna XD allows an anterior lumbar interbody fusion-sized circular implant to be delivered. The system expands to cover the disc footprint and create a stable foundation and restore disc height. Spinal Elements acquired the device in December 2020.
