Executive moves at Medtronic, Smith + Nephew's launches system & more: 5 device company updates

A merger to accelerate robotic surgery, and four more updates from spine and orthopedic device companies in the last week:

1. One Medtronic exec is stepping down from the company, and a new appointment was confirmed. Bradley Lerman, senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary, will retire. Jennifer Kirk was appointed principal accounting officer, global controller and chief accounting officer. 

2. TheraCell implanted more than 200 of its TheraFuze DBF Fiber Anchors since its limited commercial release.

3. Integrity Implants and Fusion Robotics merged to form Accelus, which plans to accelerate the adoption of minimally invasive surgery as the standard of care in spine.

4. Smith+Nephew launched its Fast-Fix Flex meniscus repair system.

5. Augmedics named two leaders to its board of directors, including a former Stryker executive.
