Stryker's orthopedic sales jump 82.3% in Q2; growth reported in all segments: 5 notes

Stryker posted $1.6 billion in net sales for its orthopedics business in the second quarter, and the company saw growth across all orthopedic procedure types.

1. Spine and neurotechnology sales hit $918 million, a 66.9 percent increase from the same period last year.

2. Net sales in the second quarter were $4.2 billion, a 55.4 percent increase from the same period in 2020.

3. Orthopedic sales were $1.6 billion, up 82.3 percent compared to the second quarter of 2020. There was growth across all orthopedic procedure types as well.

4. Year over year for the second quarter, knee sales increased 96.4 percent to $474 million; hip sales increased 63.3 percent to $353 million; trauma and extremities sales increased 104.2 percent to $674 million; and other sales increased 20.9 percent to $127 million.

5. CEO Kevin Lobo said Stryker's integration of Wright Medical is "pacing ahead of plan." He also said business continued to build momentum as the COVID-19 pandemic moderates.
