Alphatec Q3 revenue jumps 53%: 5 notes

Alphatec grew its surgeon user base by 20 percent year over year in the third quarter of 2021, according to financial results posted Nov. 4.

Five things to know:

1. Total revenue was $62.9 million, a 53 percent increase year over year. 

2. Growing adoption of the prone transpsoas technique in spine surgery led to more than 50 percent of Alphatec's third-quarter revenue growth.

3. Revenue related to EOS imaging reached more than $11 million. 

4. Third-quarter highlights for the company include the release of the ALIF standalone interbody system and the launch of the OsseoScrew. 

5. "Despite ongoing market impacts, our surgeon customer base increased significantly," Pat Miles, Alphatec's chair and CEO, said in the release. "The accelerating uptake of PTP is testament to the reflected know-how and Atec's ability to design technology for specific approach requirements."
