Catalyst OrthoScience, a medtech company focused on the upper extremity orthopedics market, has appointed Carl O'Connell president and CEO.
Mr. O'Connell succeeds Brian Hutchchison, who joined the company as executive chairman and interim CEO in 2018, the company said in a Jan. 11 news release. He will serve as an adviser for the company.
"I will be focused on ensuring a smooth transition for our employees, our distributors and our customers over the coming months," Mr. O'Connell said. "I look forward to the commercial launch and expansion of the Archer R1 reverse shoulder system, as well as continuing to enhance our product portfolio to maintain Catalyst's leadership position in the marketplace."
Most recently, Mr. O'Connell served as CEO of Cerebrotech Medical Systems, a developer of noninvasive neurotechnology devices for stroke patients. He was also president and CEO of orthobiologic company Xtant Medical and held leadership roles at Wright Medical and Stryker, among other companies.
Catalyst OrthoScience was founded in 2014 by Steven Goldberg, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Naples, Fla., who sits on the board of directors.
