A majority of physicians agree that hospital employment of physicians is not a positive trend and will not enhance quality of care and decrease costs, according to "A Survey of America's Physicians: Practice Patterns and Perspectives," released by The Physicians Foundation.
The report includes responses from 13,575 physicians. The survey was conducted on behalf of The Physicians Foundation by Merritt Hawkins and completed in September 2012.
When asked if they think hospital employment of physicians is a positive trend, respondents reported the following:
• Mostly agree — 4.6 percent
• Somewhat agree — 19.9 percent
• Somewhat disagree — 32.8 percent
• Mostly disagree — 42.7 percent
