Colorado medical center to add $75M orthopedic hospital, cancer center

Practice Management

Pueblo, Colo.-based Parkview Medical Center on Jan. 13 revealed plans to build an orthopedic hospital and comprehensive cancer center, The Pueblo Chieftain reports.

Four things to know:

1. The orthopedic hospital will provide additional inpatient and outpatient care, allowing Parkview's main hospital to expand general care services.

2. The facility will focus on orthopedic surgery, which will drive lower infections and faster recoveries, Lucas King, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Parkview, told The Pueblo Chieftain.

3. The cancer center will allow patients requiring radiation, medical oncology and support services to receive treatment in one facility.

4. The $75 million project will begin construction this summer. The cancer center will open in summer 2021, with the orthopedic hospital opening in early 2022.
