$80M surgical institute to revamp ORs, expand orthopedics at Florida hospital

Practice Management

Jupiter (Fla.) Medical Center unveiled plans Jan. 21 to develop an $80 million surgical institute that will overhaul the hospital's operating rooms and expand orthopedic services, The Palm Beach Post reports.

Demand for surgeries is driving the expansion, with more than 8,400 operations performed in Jupiter's 14 ORs annually.

The 90,000-square-foot facility will feature 16 smart ORs and two hybrid ORs.

Jupiter needs to raise at least $45 million for the surgical institute, which it will use as a "recruitment tool" to bring in more physicians to perform surgeries.

The hospital hopes to open the facility in 2023.
