Matthew Halanski, MD, was named division chief of orthopedics and sports medicine at Phoenix Children's.
In his role, Dr. Halanski will lead the Herbert J. Louis Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, according to a Nov. 29 news release from the health system. He is a prolific reseracher, surgeon and professor, and his appointment is part of the hospital's borader effort to strengthen leadership.
Dr. Halanski holds three patents, and his reserach focuses on translational medicine. He held multiple leadership appointments during his more than 20-year career.
"Not only is he a renowned orthopedic surgeon and mentor to young developing clinicians, but he brings decades of experience in human development research to Phoenix Children's," Daniel Ostile, MD, surgeon-in-chief and chair of surgery at Phoenix Children's said in the release. "His clinical and research experience is exactly what we need as we expand our world-class pediatric care to new sites of service and broaden our research capabilities."
