The University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medicine Orthopedics Surgery Center in Henrietta, N.Y., has debuted a new technological sterile operating room, the Clean Cube, according to a Dec. 15 report from Spectrum News.
The Clean Cube is an OR made of glass walls, eliminating the need for building expensive and time consuming rooms from scratch.
It is a prefabricated room that can be snapped together quickly, and features automated disinfectant and air control systems to create a sterile environment for patients.
University of Rochester Medical Center is the first medical center to install a Clean Cube, and hopes to have it ready for use in the coming weeks.
