Keith Meister, MD, is set to perform Tommy John elbow surgery on four pitchers from the Colorado Rockies this week.
Gabriel Hughes, Jordy Vargas, Jackson Cox and Antonio Senzatela will all undergo the procedure to repair torn ulnar collateral ligaments, according to a July 24 report by espn.com.
The surgery will cause all four players to miss the remainder of the season, the report said.
Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers, another MLB team.
