Two physicians from Medford-based Southern Oregon Orthopedics will offer specialized services to patients at Roseburg, Ore.-based Cascade Orthopedic Specialists once a week to fill orthopedic care gaps, according to an Oct. 11 report from The News-Review.
Mariano Furrer, MD, and Jayme Hiratzka, MD, will begin seeing patients at Cascade on Oct. 17, providing both operative and nonoperative care.
"We were asked by local orthopedists if we could help fill the orthopedic needs in the community. We see patients from Roseburg in our Grants Pass and Medford offices now but feel we can be more effective by seeing Roseburg patients in their own community," Dr. Furrer told the News-Review.
"In Southern Oregon it's an access problem. A lot of people are traveling quite a way and we see a lot of patients from up that way," Dr. Hiratzka said. "We are trying to create a more central place for them to at least get checked up."
