Operation Walk will honor Lawrence D. Dorr, MD, at its annual gala in Los Angeles, Oct. 6, according to Pasadena Now.
Here are four things to know:
1. Dr. Dorr founded Operation Walk in 1996 to perform free orthopedic surgeries for needy patients in the U.S. and developing countries.
2. Dr. Dorr is an orthopedic surgeon and professor at Keck School of Medicine Medicine of University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He has authored 300 scientific articles and book chapters.
3. He is a founding member and past president of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
4. Under Dr. Dorr’s leadership, Operation Walk developed 17 surgical teams in the U.S., Canada and Ireland that have performed free surgeries for more than 10,000 people in 12 countries.
