Eric A. Heiden, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Park City, Utah-based Heiden Orthopedics.
A knee, shoulder and sports medicine specialist, Dr. Heiden is on staff at Salt Lake City-based LDS Hospital, Salt Lake Regional Medical Center and Park City Medical Center.
Dr. Heiden is a former Olympian speed skater who set 15 world records. He was a gold medalist in five speed skating events at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Winter Games.
After retiring from speed skating, Dr. Heiden won a U.S. Cycling Championship and competed in the Tour de France.
Dr. Heiden co-founded the Sacramento-based UC Davis Sports Performance Program. He served on the U.S. Speed Skating Team, USA Cycling and Sacramento Kings medical staff.
Dr. Heiden earned his medical degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif. He underwent residency training at UC Davis Medical Center and completed a fellowship at the Birmingham, Ala.-based American Sports Medicine Institute.
