David S. Gazzaniga, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Hoag Orthopedic Institute in Irvine, Calif.
Dr. Gazzaniga is also affiliated with Newport Orthopedic Institute in Newport Beach, Calif.
With expertise in sports medicine as well as shoulder, elbow, knee and hip injuries, Dr. Gazzaniga serves as director of the Hoag Orthopedic Institute sports medicine fellowship program. He is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Chargers and has previously served as a team physician for the New York Jets as well as the head orthopedic surgeon for the New York Islanders.
Dr. Gazzaniga is a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, NHL Team Physicians Society and NFL Physicians Society.
After earning his medical degree from Hanover, N.H.-based Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, Dr. Gazzaniga completed a residency at Harvard University's Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program in Boston. He then underwent fellowship training in knee and shoulder surgery and sports medicine at Vail, Colo.-based Steadman-Hawkins Clinic. He also completed fellowships in orthopedic trauma surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and foot and ankle surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, both based in Boston.
