George Branovacki, MD, performed Illinois' first total knee replacement using the DePuy Synthes Velys robotic-assisted knee replacement technology.
The surgery was performed at Amita Health Center for Advanced Joint Replacement in LaGrange, Ill., a Dec. 9 LinkedIn post said. .
The Velys system is designed to work in tandem with the Attune Knee System, according to a July 20 news release by Johnson & Johnson, the parent company of DePuy Synthes. It offers digital joint placement precision and joint tension accuracy, allowing surgeons to tailor the procedure based on a patient's anatomy. It was approved by the FDA in January.
