Montana hospital logs 85 cases with Stryker robot — 4 details

Surgeons at Whitefish, Mont.-based North Valley Hospital have logged 85 surgeries with the Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Technology, NBC Montana reports.

Four details:

1. In October 2019, North Valley Hospital became the first provider in Montana's Flathead Valley region to purchase a robotic system.

2. The Mako robot, which is made by Stryker, is used in joint replacement surgery.

3. It cut recovery time in half for patient Janie Wagner, who underwent a robotic-assisted knee replacement at North Valley Hospital.

4. Orthopedic surgeon Timothy Joyce, MD, said the system helps improve the accuracy of implant placements.
