Robotics

Fauquier Health in Warrenton, Va., aims to become a leader in robotic surgery after recently  installing the ExcelsiusGPS and da Vinci Xi robots, the Fauquier Times reports.

The hospital has performed 30 spine surgeries with ExcelsiusGPS after acquiring the technology in June. The Globus Medical robot cost $1.2 million to purchase. There are no other hospitals in the region offering the technology, according to the report.

Fauquier Health has performed 108 robotic-assisted surgeries with da Vinci Xi, since it acquired the robot for $1.8 million in March.

"Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, last year was a successful year in helping us to advance our foothold in robotics," CEO Chad Melton told Fauquier Times. "The da Vinci Xi surgical system and ExcelsiusGPS spine robot have allowed us to offer advanced and necessary procedures with a level of accuracy that makes them minimally invasive."
