10 places adding spine, orthopedic robots

Becker's reported on 10 hospitals and practices adding spine and orthopedic robots since the beginning of September.

1. Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., added Medtronic's StealthStation 8.

2. Mercy Washington (Mo.) has added robotic-assisted knee replacements. 

3. Think Surgical's upgraded TMini robot, version 1.1, was used in its first total knee replacement since earning FDA clearance. Alexander Sah, MD, performed the debut case at Washington Outpatient Surgery Center in Fremont, Calif.

4. Orthopedic surgeon Prashant Deshmane, MD, has performed Utica, N.Y.-based Wynn Hospital's first robotic hip procedure using Stryker's Mako.

5. The Detroit VA's orthopedic surgery department completed its first robotic-assisted hip replacement procedure.

6. Irvine, Calif.-based Hoag Orthopedic Institute has performed the first Corin Apollo robotic knee replacement on the West Coast. 

7. Orthopedic surgeon Richard Bransford, MD, started using the ExcelsiusGPS robot for spine surgeries at the University of Washington Medicine in Seattle. 

8. Jupiter (Fla.) Medical Center added its third orthopedic robot — a Cori system for total joint replacements.

9. North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, La., added Globus Medical's Excelsius3D imaging and ExcelsiusGPS robot.

10. Jeffrey Roh, MD, of Honolulu Spine Center, performed Hawaii's first surgery using the Cuvis spine robot and pedicle screws from Next Orthosurgical.
