Cayuga Medical Center adds CORI surgical system for knee replacements

Robotics

Ithaca, N.Y.-based Cayuga Medical Center has added Smith + Nephew's CORI surgical robot for total and partial knee replacements and revision knee joint surgery, according to a July 6 report from the Ithaca Times

The new system provides patients with knee replacement prosthetics that are matched and aligned to their specific anatomy for better outcomes.

CMC surgeons also use a handheld instrument to gather information on a patient's knee anatomy without exposing patients to the radiation of CT scans.

Three of Cayuga's surgeons, Ashley Anderson, MD, Benjamin Donahue, MD, and Deidre Blake, MD, will be trained in the use of the surgical robot.
