Alphatec Holding reported a 1.6 percent decrease in third quarter revenue for Alphatec Spine. The company reported $46.8 million, compared with $47.6 million over the same period last year. Net revenues were also down $1.7 million in the third quarter of 2012, driven by the company's biologics process.
ArthroCare (Up 4.4 percent). ArthroCare has reported third-quarter revenue of $86.9 million, up 4.4 percent compared to the same quarter last year. Worldwide sales of ArthroCare's sports medicine products increased $3.1 million, or 5.9 percent. The company attributes sports medicine growth to the recent Coblation and fixation product introductions as well as increased sales of knee wands resulting from a knee initiative.
DJO Global (Up 4.1 percent). DJO Global has reported third quarter sales of $274 million, up 4.1 percent compared to the same period last year. DJO's net sales for the recovery sciences segment fell by 1.3 percent, while its surgical implant segment saw a 12.9 percent increase to $17.2 million.
Globus Medical (Up 12.5 percent). Globus Medical's third-quarter worldwide sales increased 12.5 percent, reaching $94.8 million. Increased sales were driven by growth from the company's disruptive technology products, which include minimally invasive surgical and lateral platform products. Globus Medical also reported quarter net income of $16.5 million, down slightly from $16.9 million in the same quarter last year.
Greatbatch (Up 22 percent). Greatbatch has reported third quarter sales of $161.3 million, up 22 percent over the same quarter last year. Although overall sales have seen improvements, Greatbatch's orthopedics unit saw a 6 percent decline in revenue due to operational issues at Swiss facilities.
MAKO Surgical (Up 46 percent). MAKO Surgical's third-quarter revenues totaled $29.2 million, a 46 percent increase over the same period last year. A total 15 RIO systems were sold this quarter, increasing worldwide installations to 141 systems and domestic installations to 138 systems. The company also reported 2,413 MAKOplasty procedures were performed this quarter, a 33 percent increase over the same period last year.
MiMedx Group (Up 270 percent). MiMedx Group has reported third quarter revenues of $8 million, a 270 percent increase compared to the same quarter last year. The company's surgical and sports medicine business line made up 34 percent of its quarterly revenues.
Misonix (Up 42 percent). Misonix has reported first quarter revenues of $4.6 million, up 42 percent compared to the same quarter last year. BoneScalpel revenue for the quarter increased 220 percent to $2.1 million compared to $655,686 in last year's first quarter. RTI Biologics (Up 5 percent). RTI Biologics has reported third quarter revenues of $44.6 million, up 5 percent compared to the same quarter last year. Broken out by business line, RTI Biologics saw a 7 percent revenue increase for sports medicine ($11.8 million), a 5 percent revenue increase for surgical specialties ($7.9 million) and a 13 percent revenue increase for bone graft substitutes and general orthopedics ($7.9 million).

The sales decline was attributed to revenue loss from its biologics and clinical therapies business line, which spun off and was branded Bioventus. Broken out by business line, sales from Smith & Nephew's knee products fell 1 percent, while its sports medicine products saw an 8 percent hike.

Broken out by business lines, Symmetry Medical's implant products gained $25.6 million this quarter, which is down 4 percent compared to the same period last year. The year-over-year revenue increase was driven by growth in the company's OEM solutions and Symmetry Surgical segments.
