Matthew Geck, MD, used the CD Horizon Longitude Multi-Level Percutaneous Fixation System to perform a new scoliosis correction procedure in Austin, Texas, according to a Seton Family of Hospitals news release.
During this procedure, the physician places percutaneous screws in two or three small incisions. The physician then uses the imaging technology to connect rods with the screws, completing the curvature correction.
This procedure typically requires a long period of recovery; however the new system was designed to decrease recuperation time. This procedure can be performed on teenage as well as adult patients.
