Moshe Shoham, PhD, received the Thomas A. Edison Patent Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for inventing the Mazor Robotics' Renaissance spine system. The Renaissance system has guided more than 35,000 spinal implant surgeries already. The guidance system allows surgeons to perform procedures free-handed with less radiation.
The award was created to recognize patented device creativity with the potential to enhance mechanical engineering.
