Medtronic to Market Amgen's Prolia Spine Device for Women at Risk of Osteoporosis-Related Fractures

Medtronic has entered into an agreement with Amgen to promote the Prolia device to spine specialists through Medtronic's Interventional Spine division.

The Prolia is for use in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis at a high risk of fractures. Approximately half of women older than 50 will have an osteoporosis-related fracture in their lifetime, according to an HHS study.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
