Indiana Spine Group's Dr. Kenneth Renkens Comments on Homeostasis Clinical Trial

Spinal Tech

Kenneth Renkens, MD, a spine surgeon at Indiana Spine Group, was recently a principal investigator for the FINISH-3 Phase III clinical trial of Fibrocaps, a dry powder topical formulation of fibrinogen and thrombin to aid homeostasis during surgery.

"The combined ease of use and efficacy of Fibrocaps have the potential to constitute an important advance in surgical homeostasis," said Dr. Renkens in the news release. "Furthermore, the spray device could become an important tool to use in surgery and to apply Fibrocaps."

The Medicines Company expects to release the results of the trial, which included 65 sites across the Untied States and Europe to support regulatory clearance. Fibrocaps is part of the company's ProFibrix, which also developed a complementary dry powder spray device for accurate application.
