DePuy Mitek has launched the Versalok Peek, a nonmetallic, self-punching rotator cuff anchor, during the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's annual meeting, according to a Surgical Products report.
The device, which is completely radiolucent and knotless, is designed to allow sutures to be affixed without knot-tying as well as eliminate the need to pre-awl a pilot hole.
The Versalok Peek will not interfere with MRI scans. Additionally, the device has two mid-body wings designed for increased fixation in cancellous bone.
