The first implantation of Plainsboro, N.J.-based Integra LifeSciences' Integra Titan Reverse Shoulder System took place in the United States this month. The device was used by William Geissler, MD, professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
The system converts a primary total shoulder surgery to a reverse shoulder without removing a stem that is fixed in the patient's bone. The system's components are interchangeable for primary, reverse and fracture humeral bodies.
