Here are five spine and orthopedic device companies that have recently expanded or entered into new agreements.
Amedica, based in Salt Lake City, signed an agreement with Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corporation to manufacture medical devices from Amedica's Silicon Nitride biomaterial.
Bacterin International, based in Belgrade, Mont., has struck an agreement with OsTek Orthopaedics to distribute Bacterin's biologic products in Canada.
Medtronic, based in Minneapolis, intends to spend $6 million in improvements and add 150 jobs to two manufacturing plants in Puerto Rico.
NuVasive, based in San Diego, acquired one of its Ohio-based contract manufacturing partners for $4.5 million earlier this year. The acquisition is expected to grow the company's workforce by 25 percent next year.
Teleflex, based in Limerick, Pa., will relocated one of its units from Research Triangle Park, N.C., to a new facility in Morrisville, N.C. The company intends to add 75 new jobs at the facility within three years.
