St. Jude Medical launches neuromodulation trial system with Apple wireless technology: 5 observations

Spinal Tech

St. Jude Medical launched the St. Jude Medical Invisible Trial System, an app-based and wireless neuromodulation programming system.

Here are five important observations:

1. The company has also received CE Mark approval for the system.

2. The new system relies on Bluetooth communication and offers patients a secure and wireless experience when patients try spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain treatment before permanent implantation.

3. The system leverages Apple iPod touch and iPad mini technology.

4. The iPod touch controller gives patients a simple, familiar platform to adjust their therapy. The patient's physician uses an iPad mini tablet to set the programming parameters.

5. The new system also has the capability to deliver both traditional and 'burst' stimulation modes.
