Former Medtronic chairman and CEO Winston Wallin died yesterday, according to a company news release.
Mr. Wallin joined the Medtronic board of directors in 1978 and later became CEO. During his time as CEO, Medtronic experienced significant growth and acquired nearly a dozen medical technology companies.
Mr. Wallin retired from Medtronic in 1991. He has since founded Wallin Education Partners, a partner to the Medtronic Foundation's Scholars program that has awarded more than $25 million to high-potential students in the Minneapolis area.
