CerviCore accusations should be unsealed, Ohio judge says: 5 key notes

Spinal Tech

An Ohio judge ruled accusations against Stryker's CerviCore available earlier this month.

Here are five key notes:

1. A 14th alleged victim filed suit earlier in December, prompting Ohio Judge James D. Bates to rule accusations against Stryker's CerviCore can't be filed under a seal.

2. The CerviCore technology is from Howmedica Osteonics, which Stryker Spine acquired.

3. The plaintiff was a patient in Stryker's clinical trial for CerviCore but the trial was abandoned when alleged dangers became apparent. There are some patients in the trial who have become worse since treatment.

4. Last week a motion to file under seal was denied. As a result, the filing was placed in the public domain.

5. Zoll & Kranz have been involved with the litigation and advocate for the plaintiffs.
