Here are five recent mergers, acquisitions and partnership agreements that took place among spine and orthopedic companies.

Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Stryker's endoscopy division recently acquired Germany-based Ivy Sports Medicine, which includes its minimally invasive meniscal repair platform. The acquisition will allow Stryker to supplement its portfolio with a complete meniscal platform. Ivy Sports Medicine had the "only FDA-approved collagen meniscus implant on the market."

 

Carlsbad, Calif.-based Alphatec completed the sale of its international operations and distribution channel to Audubon, Calif.-based Globus Medical. With the sale, Alphatec is now solely focused on the U.S. market, which the company believes constitutes around 65 percent of the global spinal fusion market.

 

SeaSpine, a Carlsbad, Calif.-based medical technology company offering spinal disorder solutions, signed a definitive agreement to acquire NLT Spine, an Israel-based medical device company creating minimally invasive spine surgery products.

 

Warsaw, Ind.-based Zimmer Biomet is acquiring CD Diagnostics, a Claymont, Del.-based company developing immunoassays and biomarker testing. CD Diagnostics creates diagnostics assays that help physicians make decisions which optimize patient care. The companies did not disclose financial details of the transaction.

 

JRI Orthopaedics completed its acquisition of Sheffield Medical Products. Sheffield Medical Products focuses on the development of medical disposables, instrumentation and implants for joint replacement and revision surgery.
