San Diego-based surgical implant manufacturer, Xenco Medical, has launched the first interactive vending machine created for spine surgery implants and instruments, reports venturebeat.com.
Four key insights:
1. The vending machines will be utilized to house, track and dispense Xenco's disposable spine surgery implant and instrument systems, which consist of a durable composite polymer.
2. The machines aim to increase OR efficiency and eradicate the internal logistics linked with the autoclave process.
3. Wi-Fi-enabled, and featuring a large touchscreen, it utilizes an elevator-based system to collect each product and distribute for surgery.
4. The technology features tutorials and a virtual assistant called Ezra and enables surgeons to send real-time alerts to Xenco's headquarters.
