Amplify Surgical launched its dualX earlier this year and it has now been implanted in 100 surgical levels.
Yong Kim, MD, performed the milestone case at NYU Langone Health in New York City. Ali Najafi, MD, a neurosurgeon in Fresno, Calif., and Nima Salari, MD, an orthopedic spine surgeon in Phoenix, have also performed several cases using dualX.
The dualX technology includes a family of titanium expandable interbody devices designed for both height and width expansion. The device is implanted during lateral lumbar fusions, posterior lumbar interbody fusion or transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion.
"The instrumentation allows for less passes by the nerve roots, controlled expansion of the implant and ease of bone graft delivery," said Dr. Kim. The device is unique because it expands in both directions. Amplify Surgical CEO Andy Choi said he is excited about the technology heading into the end of the year.
