Global Spine Congress, Precision OS replace cadavers with virtual reality system for spine surgery course

Spinal Tech

Precision OS Technology is using its virtual reality platform to present a cadaver-less spine surgery training course at the Global Spine Congress in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, from May 20-23, reports Med City News.

Three things to know:

1. Founded by Danny Goel, MD, Precision OS uses virtual reality to train orthopedic surgeons and educate medical device representatives about complex surgical procedures.

2. The technology provides surgeons the opportunity to reflect and evaluate surgical errors in a safe virtual reality space.

3. A recent study published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery demonstrated the technology's ability to improve senior surgical residents' abilities 570 percent faster than traditional training, which enhanced skills by 150 percent.
