Aurora Spine receives patent for bone density-matching implant

Spinal Tech

The U.S. Patent Office issued Aurora Spine a patent for its DEXA Technology platform, which is used to create bone density-matching implants, the company announced Oct. 5.

The platform uses a DEXA scan and T-scores to create implants that match a patient's bone density. These implants improve outcomes around bone fusion treatments.

Aurora Spine is marketing the platform as part of its "advanced portfolio representing the future of spinal and orthopedic implants," the company said in a release.

Aurora Spine CEO Trent Northcutt said, "The DEXA opportunity represents our continued commitment to delivering best-in-class implants that enable our surgeon partners to overcome common osteoporosis challenges faced in traditional procedures."

The company expects to begin commercialization efforts in the coming months.
