Umbra Companies has initiated the acquisition of orthopedic implant manufacturer Ossifix Technologies, the investment holdings firm said Nov. 17.
Three things to know:
1. Ossifix develops implants from high-density, allograft cortical bone.
2. Umbra and Ossifix are working to create biodegradable polymer-based surgical instrumentation featuring antimicrobial technology.
3. CEO Alex Umbra said the transaction is part of the company's "growth through acquisition approach," which will expand its reach in orthopedics.
