Orthopedic implant manufacturer Orthofix on Feb. 11 launched its Fitbone limb-lengthening and deformity correction system in the U.S. and Europe.
Fitbone is an implant intended to correct leg length and deformities. An implanted receiver and an external control set allows the patient to manage the distraction phase at home.
The device has been used in more than 3,500 cases in 15 countries.
Orthofix acquired Fitbone from German company Wittenstein in March. Terms of the deal included $18 million in cash closing consideration and a manufacturing supply contract with the company.
The transaction included the Fitspine system, designed to treat early-onset scoliosis.
