7. Notable news so far in 2021
Medtronic: This year, Medtronic said it would double down on data, artificial intelligence and machine learning. It continues to push into the spine space getting clearance for its neurostimulator and UNiD Rods.
Stryker: After it's key acquisition of Wright Medical in November, Stryker unveiled its new foot and ankle portfolio in May.
Zimmer Biomet: In February, Zimmer Biomet announced plans to spin off its spine and dental business into a new entity, NewCo, and former Medtronic exec Vafa Jamali was tapped to lead it. In April, Zimmer Biomet received FDA clearance for its Rosa partial knee system.
