Investors have injected over $120M in spine, orthopedic medtech companies this year

Spine and orthopedic medtech companies are drawing the eyes and dollars of investors in 2022. Five companies have netted a total $123.6 million in deals so far.

1. Devicemaker 3Spine landed a $33 million series C investment round to support clinical trials of its lower back total joint replacement device.

2. French devicemaker Companion Spine earned $55 million in series A funding. The funding was led by New York City-based investment firm Viscogliosi Bros. The money is expected to help develop and commercialize minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic products for degenerative disc disease and lumbar spine stenosis.

3. Swiss devicemaker Neo Medical landed $20.6 million in funding led by Swisscom Ventures. The funds will go toward the commercial release of NeoMedical's Advise augmented reality spine system.

4. Amber Implants closed a $10 million series A financing round in January. Funds will help further validate its vertebral body augmentation system, VCFix, through testing and clinical studies. 

5. New York City-based robotics company Caira Surgical received $5 million in seed capital. The funding is expected to help it further develop a radar tracking system for knee replacement surgery with submillimeter accuracy
