Current and future uses of Kambin's triangle in spine surgery

Kambin's triangle, an access point in the spine, is commonly used to perform lumbar interbody fusions. A review of current and future uses of Kambin's triangle was published June 6 in Cureus.

Current uses:

1. Transforaminal minimally invasive spinal surgeries 

2. Robotic-assisted percTLIF

3. PercTLIF with an expandable titanium cage

4. MIS extraforaminal lumbar interbody fusion

5. Percutaneous vertebroplasty

6. Endoscopic spine surgery

Future uses:

1. Treatment of upper lumbar fracture with neurologic deficit

2. Treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures

3. Treatment of thoracolumbar burst fractures

4. Treatment for treat grade 1 lumbar spondylolisthesis with percLIF

5. Less invasive improvements to lumbar interbody fusion
