Aurora Spine's motion-preserving patent granted

Spinal Tech

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office gave Aurora Spine a patent for its interlaminar single implant technology for motion preservation or fusion.

The patent is related to the devicemaker's ZipFlex technology for a minimally invasive posterior interlaminar implant, according to a June 13 news release. It is designed for a minimally invasive posterior interlaminar implant for motion preservation that could be adapted into a fusion or non-fusion device.

Features of ZipFlex include individually adjustable anchors to prevent implant migration and unnecessary bone removal to fit the implant. It's the first technology to have an all-in-one approach for treating back pain.

Aurora Spine previously got a notice of allowance for the patent in February.
