Spine devicemaker partners with manufacturer to develop implants

Spinal Tech

Fuse Medical and Oxford Performance Materials are partnering to develop spine and orthopedic implants with the OstepFab poly-ether-ketone-ketone technology.

The agreement will enable Fuse Medical to create new cervical and lumbar spinal interbodies, soft tissue fixation devices and other orthopedic implants with OPM's proprietary 3D printing, according to a July 5 news release. OPM's OsteoFab technology features bonelike mechanics, bone ongrowth, radiolucency and antibacterial/antiviral properties.

"As OPM focuses on providing advanced implantable polymers and contract manufacturing services, we look to work with industry leaders that are dedicated to innovative solutions that drive medical device technology forward in ways that reduce system costs and improve patient outcomes," OPM founder and CEO Scott DeFelice said in the release.
