Altus Spine's Monaco pedicle screw system was used in its first complex deformity case at New York City-based NYU Medical Center, the devicemaker said Feb. 2.

Anthony Petrizzo, DO, and Themistocles Protopsaltis, MD performed the milestone case, according to a news release shared with Becker's. The Monaco system is manufactured from cobalt chrome that accommodates 5.5mm and 5mm roda.

"The Monaco rod reducers and correction instruments worked flawlessly," Dr. Petrizzo said in the release. "The cobalt chrome screw head allows for very secure connections with attachments providing for powerful correction and reduction of complex deformities. I’m very pleased with the case results and I’m looking forward to the next procedures."
