Here are three updates on spine medtech mergers and acquisitions since Feb. 28:
1. Bioventus may not acquire CartiHeal after all. The orthopedic medtech company reached a new settlement with former CartiHeal shareholders. Under the agreement, Bioventus could transfer back ownership to eliminate $350 million of deferred purchase price obligations and accrued interest.
2. Xtant Medical has acquired Surgalign's Coflex product line for $17 million. The acquisition strengthens Xtant's offerings and supports Surgalign's balance sheet as it focuses on digital health.
3. IMAC Holdings is merging with Brain Scientific. The move comes weeks after IMAC Holdings sold its retail spine company, The BackSpace to Curis Functional Health.
